Frequency-Domain Multi-Stage Soft Interference Cancellation for DS-CDMA Uplink Signal Transmission

چکیده
It is well-known that, in DS-CDMA downlink signal transmission, frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can replace rake combining to achieve much improved bit error rate (BER) performance in severe frequencyselective fading channel. However, in uplink signal transmission, as each user’s signal goes through a different channel, a severe multi-user interference (MUI) is produced and the uplink BER performance severely degrades compared to the downlink. When a small spreading factor is used, the uplink BER performance further degrades due to inter-chip interference (ICI). In this paper, we propose a frequency-domain multi-stage soft interference cancellation scheme for the DS-CDMA uplink and the achievable BER performance is evaluated by computer simulation. The BER performance comparison of the proposed cancellation technique and the multiuser detection (MUD) is also presented. key words: DS-CDMA, frequency-domain equalization (FDE), MUI cancellation, multi-user detection (MUD)

Chip-interleaved DS-CDMA with 2-dimensional OVSF spreading code
Multiuser interference (MUI) limits the transmission performance of the DS-CDMA uplink. In this paper, we propose a 2-dimensional (2-D) OVSF spreading and chip-interleaving to transform the multi-user channel into orthogonal single-user channels. Due to MUI cancellation, the chip-interleaved DS-CDMA with 2-D OVSF spreading has ability to increase the link capacity as well as to provide multi-ra...

Multi-access interference (MAI) limits the transmission performance of the DS-CDMA uplink. In this paper, we propose 2-dimensional (2D)-OVSF spreading for chip-interleaved DS-CDMA uplink transmission. By adopting 2D-OVSF spreading, the multiuser channel is transformed into orthogonal single-user channels irrespective of users’ data rates. Thus, single-user frequency-domain MMSE equalization can...

Frequency-domain equalization (FDE) technique may play an important role for broadband packet transmission using MCand DS-CDMA. The downlink performance is significantly improved with FDE; however, the uplink performance is limited by the multi-access interference (MAI). To remove the MAI while gaining the frequency diversity effect through the use of FDE, frequency-domain block spread CDMA can...

In this chapter, we propose a new scheme for Multi User Detection (MUD) using Parallel Interference Cancellation (PIC) technique. This technique provides a good complexity, latency, and performance compromise. Among spread-spectrum techniques, the most popular one is the Direct-Sequence Code-Division Multiple-Access (DS-CDMA), where each active user’s data is modulated (multiplied) by a unique ...
متن کاملIterative Frequency-Domain Soft Interference Cancellation for Multicode DS- and MC-CDMA Transmissions and Performance Comparison
Frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can significantly improve the BER performance of DSand MC-CDMA systems in a severe frequencyselective fading channel. However, since the frequency-distorted signal cannot be completely equalized, the residual inter-code interference (ICI) limits the BER performance improvement. 4G systems must support mu...
